NOTICE OF ELECTION
NEWBERG TOWNSHIP
AUGUST 4, 2020 ELECTION
TO THE QUALIFIED ELECTORS OF NEWBERG TOWNSHIP:
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Primary Election will be held on Tuesday, August 4, 2020.
THE POLLS OF SAID ELECTION WILL OPEN AT 7:00 AM AND CLOSE AT 8:00 PM ON AUGUST 4, 2020.
Proposals on the ballot include:
Marcellus Community Schools Operating Millage Renewal Proposal: This proposal will allow the school district to continue to levy the statutory rate of not to exceed 18 mills on all property, except principal residence and other property exempted by law, required for the school district to receive its revenue per pupil foundation allowance. The remaining 1.348 mills are only available to be levied to restore millage lost as a result of the reduction required by the “Headlee” amendment to the Michigan Constitution of 1963 and will only be levied to the extent necessary to restore that reduction.
Cass County Drug Enforcement Millage Renewal: A renewal of up to 0.4805 mill levy which may be assessed against the taxable value of real and personal property in Cass County for a period of 4 years.
Millage Proposition for Services to Older Citizens: A renewal of the current millage for senior services of 0.9969 mills.
Medical Care Facility Millage: Approval of up to 0.5 mill levy for a period of 5 years, for funding and to help defray the costs of operation of the Cass County Medical Care Facility as well as funding to expand service options for the community.
Candidates on the ballot include:
United States Senator, Representative in Congress 6th District, Representative in State Legislature 59th District, County Commissioner:2nd District. County: Prosecuting Attorney, Sheriff, Clerk and Register of Deeds, Treasurer and Drain Commissioner, Township: Supervisor, Clerk, Treasurer and Trustees. Delegates to County Convention.
Polling locations are handicap accessible, and persons with special needs, as defined in the Americans with Disabilities Act, shall be supplied with Braille or audio instructions upon request.
